Got logged on... no problem. Connected to our server, went into map loading screen, and just when I should spawn in - raster colors, then Black screen... hmmm
Did this several times, thinking, maybe I upped the video settings TOO much. No matter... still the same thing.
So, I re-install video drivers, and decide to try another server... just in case. I get logged in fine, retrieve stats, but when I try to connect to any server, I get the message:
I noticed EA also has a message scrolling that they are 'aware of connection issues, and are working to correct them'. I also noticed there are a lot of people showing as on servers... but for all I know, this may just be an illusion. Our server shows 16 people on it, but RCon only shows 1. Who knows??
And...don't forget, European players hit the servers after midnight tonight. So more peeps that may not get to play on Opening Night!
As someone who built a new computer (inspired by the release of BC2), paid extra for overnight shipping and helps maintain/contribute to a BC2 server, this has been a major blow in the excitement I had for this release. Hopefully, I will catch you guys tonight.
After posting, I tried again, and was able to get on and play. The first time, I was disconnected after about 5 minutes. Then I was able to get onto our server. No more crashes... go figure. I thought the crashes were due to a video driver issue or something.
Thanks for the update Gonzo, and I kind of echo DGTL's comments. The only real disappointment thus far has been the EA Server problems.
I'll definitely be playing tonight (my first actual Clan Night in ages!) but won't be rushing around to get online....
I suspect a patch tout de suite, but we likely have a couple of annoyance filled days ahead of us. No problem, you go first. I'll provide covering fire....
