| Call of Duty - World at War |
![]() I'm not a console gamer, so, as fate would have it, I got a Beta key through my CallOfDuty.com membership. Fortunately, my son has an XBOX360, and is a regular CoD4 player, so I decided to review it in the only way I could - by vicariously playing with him at the controls. I haven't read a lot about the game to know what the new goodies are, except for the info that's been posted here. And, since I'm not a console gamer, there may or may not be valid comparisons between the console game and the PC version, but I'll assume the new features are the same for both. | Rumor:World at War Perk List |
![]() From wiihd.wikidot.com FullMetal (from CallofDuty.com) has put together a list of perks and weapons expected in Call of Duty: World at War. File this under "rumor", since the list isn't completely sourced and lacks direct links, but most of it reeks of truthiness, so I'm passing it on. FullMetal claims the italicized perks and weapons have been confirmed. You be the judge. I've listed a few below, but you can catch the full listing here. - Juggernaut (Confirmed by Treyarch in interview) - Martyrdom (Confirmed by Treyarch in interview) - Stopping Power (August issue of Xbox Magazine, thanks shawn12390!) - Deep Impact (August issue of Xbox Magazine, thanks shawn12390!) - Flack Jacket [Allows the player to survive heavy grenade impacts/blasts.] (Confirmed by GameSpot) - 'Mid clip M1 Reloading' (Confirmed by "computerandvideogames" article, thanks MaTtKs1! And also Gameplay Footage) - Sleight of Hand - Extreme Conditioning - Steady Aim - Bandoleer - Iron Lungs Full list here. |
| EA Considers Battlefield Heroes Released? |
![]() Editorial by DGTL In a recent article for 1up.com, Ben Cousins, DICE's executive producer of the Battlefield series, stated that BFH won't have a grand opening like your average retail game does. In fact, as far as Cousins and the team at DICE are concerned, the game is "already out," despite EA's announcement that the game has been delayed. Speaking as a potential BFH player, calling a game released after making an announcement that the game is to be delayed sounds like shotty Public Relations and a guy who is trying to save face. Cousins went on to draw comparisons to the way Wikipedia and Facebook have grown over time without a huge initial release, claiming the "network effect" would be what they relied on to see the game's community grow. This statement by Cousins is a clear indication that he obviously has no idea how to market this game and is not comfortable with their progress. I have been to wikipedia and I have made contributions to that site. I have a Facebook account and have participated in that service. Both sites were available day one. I have not visited a BFH server and have been unable to obtain a key. I am not sure how Cousins can compare BFH with those two services. In fact, going by Cousins description, GMail's model is closer to his new strategy. GMail started out as a beta and grew by giving their members limited 'invites' to hand out to friends. Unfortunately, even this model fails to describe DICE's new approach. So, according to Cousins, BFH is "already out". But, it is still considered a "closed beta". Which is it? |
